After the end of the war the airfield has been decommissioned and has been home to the Gliding Centre since 1965 and the East Midlands Air Support Unit since 1996.

THE GLIDING CENTRE
The Gliding Centre (formerly the Soaring Centre / Coventry Gliding Club), is widely considered the foremost gliding club in the Midlands, with 400 members and a large fleet of modern glassfibre sailplanes.

The Club originally operated from Baginton Airfield at Coventry but moved to the Husbands Bosworth site in January 1965. Situated in the heart of the Midlands, the airfield is only 3 miles from the major motorway networks, and 1/2 mile from Husbands Bosworth village, making access easy from any part of the country. The Club recently celebrated the 40th anniversary of its first flight.

EAST MIDLANDS AIR SUPPORT UNIT
In April 1996 a new rapid-response air support unit was set up by the combined police forces of Leicestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. The Unit is based on the south-west corner of the former Husbands Bosworth aerodrome, within Leicestershire.EMASU

The base is ideally sited, close to the borders of all three counties with the main population areas of Leicester, Northampton and the Warwick-Leamington conurbation within 15 minutes flying time. The unit flies a EC 135T helicopter equipped with a high-resolution video surveillance system, air to ground loud-hailer, and a thermal imaging camera for search and tracking in low-light situations.
